Getting Involved

PBSC has so much to offer students, lawyers, and public interest organizations. It is a win-win-win situation for all participants: students gain practical experience, an opportunity for community service, and connections in the legal and public interest worlds; organizations obtain much-needed legal services; law schools have an opportunity to instill fundamental values of the profession and strengthen relationships with their communities; and supervising lawyers have a chance to do valuable pro bono work in a structured environment, with student assistance that helps to prevent them from burning out. Everyone benefits.

Working with the disadvantaged members of the community has made me realize the tremendous power that lawyers hold in assisting such members with their struggles. Lawyers are in a position to provide a fundamental service that most people will be in need of at some point in their lives. There is a growing need for social justice in this world, and this program was the perfect method of instilling this notion in not only myself, but in the entire student body.
